Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.HOURS OF WORK:

Hours and Schedules Vary: Monday thru Sunday; 7:00 AM to 11:00 PMExample of Duties

Under supervision, the Recreation Specialist II position leads entry level staff responsible for delivering parks and recreation activities and operating parks and recreation facilities in the Anchorage Bowl. Responsibilities include:Monitoring and supervising participants.Organizing and directing activities.Cleaning facilities and grounds.Providing safe recreation and learning environments.Delivering excellent customer service in-person, via phone, and via email.Coordinating and maintaining a database for reservations of facilities, training, and activities.Performing other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and one (1) year experience in the program or activity under consideration.Prior experience in the use of recreational equipment is required.All applicants must possess or obtain:American Red Cross First Aid Certification, and American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or equivalent at time of hire.A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License at time of hire.Additional Important Information

Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees.If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory background check and the submission of required certifications and licenses.The Municipality of Anchorage is an employer of National Service.
