Under this task order, the contractor will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS). The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through performance of support services.Minimum Education:

15Additional Qualifications:Ph.D. degree in a scientific field.Skills:Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.Software:MS OfficeField of Study:Biochemical SciencesBiologyDeliverables:Work products and documents related to designing and carrying out research, including purified proteins, sample quality assessments, biochemical assay data, light and electron microscopic data, molecular simulation data, preparing reports, papers, and presentations.Work products and documents related to performing advanced quantitative analysis and biochemical and microscopy data including molecular reconstructions and theoretical models.Work products and documents related to collecting, analyzing and interpreting data, interacting with the scientific community, training junior staff including and participating in scientific meetings.Statement of Work Details:Functional Responsibility:

Supports the planning and execution of research experiments in the context of the laboratory's overall research program.Evaluate new techniques, instruments, and software for potential incorporation into current SOP.Perform biochemical assays, protein expression and purification, assess sample quality, prepare samples for analytical studies included but not limited to spectroscopy (absorption, fluorescence, circular dichroism), determine binding constants by various methods (spectroscopic, analytical centrifugation, size-exclusion chromatography, SEC-MALS, DLS and related).Setup workflows for sample preparation for light and electron microscopy including purified proteins, cultured cells, tissues, for confocal fluorescence and for negative stain and cryogenic electron microscopy.Conduct computational structural studies of proteins complexes, macromolecular assemblies, and cellular processes by using processed light and electron microscopy data. Make 3D reconstructions.Design new research projects and establish collaborations with intramural community to help fulfill the mission of the Protein Expression Lab.Functional Responsibility:

Supports laboratory staff on research projects and techniques.Work with staff to develop oral presentations and posters for internal and external groups/conferences.Independently direct and conduct special research projects that have a high priority for the laboratory with special emphasis in the development of novel research treatments.Maintain and support staff for conducting computational analysis via molecular modeling, docking and molecular dynamics to gain insights into biomolecular mechanisms and structure-activity relationships.Functional Responsibility:

Maintains laboratory equipment and the training of others in their use.Train staff on the proper usage of laboratory instruments and equipment.Assists in maintaining adequate space and facilities for ongoing and projected research studies.Description:Manage scientific equipment and resources (e.g. reagents, stocks of frozen cells, animal samples) including acquisition, documentation and storage.Functional Responsibility:

Evaluates, analyzes and interprets research data, communicates results and methods in reports, presentations, and manuscripts.Work with staff to confirm assay results and evaluate new techniques, instruments and protocols, search literature, propose design and test alternative assays for difficult screening targets; confirm assay results; develop secondary assays.Write technical reports and prepare manuscripts.Functional Responsibility:
