Physician Assistant Bariatric SurgeryJob SummaryUCSF Medical Center is accredited as a Comprehensive Center for Bariatric Surgery by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), MBSAQIP and ASMBS. This certification attests to UCSF Medical Center's commitment to providing and supporting quality improvement and patient safety efforts for metabolic and bariatric surgery patients, and that it meets the needs of patients by providing multidisciplinary, high-quality, patient-centered care.The Physician Assistant (PA) complements and assists the work of the attending faculty, surgical fellows, and surgical residents to provide integrative inpatient and outpatient care in the surgery service. The Bariatric Surgery PA will have OR, inpatient, and clinic responsibilities for Bariatric surgery patients under the direct supervision of the Director of Bariatric Surgery, and works directly with the attending surgeons of the Bariatric Surgery Group.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.Required Qualifications:Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program and certification by NCCPA.Preferred Qualifications:Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position.Minimum of 2 years of PA, laparoscopic surgical, and surgical assisting experience preferred, but willing to consider a new graduate PA.License/Certification:Hold an active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.Current national board certification by first day of work and maintain.Active and transferable DEA license to California and have evidence of transfer by 90th day of clinical practice.Complete an AAPA recognized graduate master's degree program as a physician assistant.Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.Current AHA BLS.Current AHA ACLS.UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day.
