Responsible for the establishment, development, implementation and coordination of the Company’s quality assurance and control programs including policies, objectives, plans, procedures, audits, and appraisals subject to the approval of the applicable executive(s). Supervises managers and/or supervisors in the Quality Assurance Department. Reports to Vice President of Operations.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Director of Quality is the Management Representative for the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with AS9100 and ISO9001. This includes:Ensuring that processes needed for the QMS are established, implemented, and maintained;Reporting to top management on the performance of the QMS and any need for improvement;Ensuring the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization, and resolving quality management issues.Formulate and develop basic policies, goals, plans, programs, standards, and techniques necessary to carry out the goals and objectives of the Quality Assurance and Control program, and upon their approval, implement and maintain such policies, plans and programs.Develop and maintain methods and systems for measuring the degree by which the Company’s quality goals, objectives and standards are being met: provide management with the results and recommend any program initiations and/or changes that may be necessary.Establish and maintain a sound approach for the performance of all quality assurance and control activities; establish standards for measuring the performance of the quality control function; and provide instruction and/or training as required.Work closely with facility personnel and Business Development, Engineering, and Operations to establish quality requirements and implement quality assurance measures to achieve reliability while being sensitive to customer needs and plant functions.Represent the Company in various government and industry associations; communicate industry and government standard issues to the Company; and keep abreast in the Company, industry and government technical standards and specifications.Perform other activities associated with program development and implementations, as required.Investigate, analyze, and adjust customer complaints regarding quality.Review contractual documents for customer imposed quality requirements.Implement audit requirements for control of quality. Maintain audit records.Issue Corrective/Preventive Action when required. Maintain CAR records.Plan, promote, and organize employee training for Quality, ESD, AS/ISO Awareness, and IPC standards.Assure calibration system is maintained in accordance with Company procedures.Advise the applicable executive(s) as to technical progress in the field, industry trends and government regulation that affect quality assurance practices and AS9100/ISO9001 compliance.Review the job performance of personnel reporting to this position and make recommendations regarding retention, promotions, transfers, reclassifications, and salary increases.Analyze cost effectiveness of all programs.Responsible for budgeting and resource planning.Develop and implement policies in accordance with company goals.Maintain a positive work environment by professional and courteous conduct and communications with others, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, and vendors.EDUCATION REQUIRED:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant science required.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Ten years of professional experience in quality assurance required. Five years experience in a management capacity required. Experience in implementing and maintaining quality programs in accordance with AS9100 and ISO9001 is required. Must have experience with electronics and IPC standards. Experience with RF/Microwave products is preferred.
