Position Summary:NJIT is seeking a highly motivated and experienced licensing manager to join our Technology Transfer Office (TTO). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the licensed intellectual property (IP) portfolio of the university, administering licensing agreements, and maintaining relationships between the university and license holders with post-licensing-execution activities. The Licensing Manager will play a crucial role in managing university-developed technologies and ensuring that they reach their full potential in the marketplace with potential return of the investment.

Essential Functions:

Manage the financial accounts related to license agreements.

Coordinate with attorneys, IP firms and external stakeholders to ensure timely and effective processing of licensing agreements and amendments along with routine correspondence.

Manage post-execution activities including ensuring compliance with terms and conditions and existing license agreements as needed.

Serve as a liaison between the university and industry partners on licensing administration.

Provide guidance and training to faculty, researchers, and students on IP protection and commercialization processes.

Organize and participate in workshops, seminars, and other events to raise awareness of technology transfer activities and opportunities.

Maintain accurate records of all IP and licensing activities.

Prepare reports on the status of licensing activities and commercialization outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.

Monitor and report on technology transfer metrics and performance indicators.

Work with TTO team to promote university technologies and capabilities to potential partners through various channels, including conferences, meetings, and marketing materials.

Prerequisite Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., science, engineering, business).

Minimum of 3 years of experience in technology transfer, IP management, licensing, or related fields.

Strong knowledge of patent law, IP protection, and licensing practices.

Proven track record of managing licensing agreements.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, researchers, industry partners, and legal professionals.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
