Marine Coastal and Resiliency Engineering Director,

you’ll build a team and establish a culture to inspire a highly capable, committed and engaged team of marine engineering and designers. By driving communication, providing technical expertise, and establishing departmental goals, you’ll help push the team to its greatest potential with a relentless passion for improvement.ResponsibilitiesLead the development of the marine engineering team vision, identify priorities, and align with operational goals.Develop a working relationship with Kiewit’s Marine construction divisions.Build discipline-specific strategies and objectives for talent management, technology, quality management, and risk management.Work to fully comprehend the business, industry, and changing marketplace the organization resides in; align discipline personnel to meet changing business requirements.Oversee department performance management process and development programs; encourage formal and informal learning events and experiences.Effectively manage underperforming employees.Identify opportunities to leverage technology.Seek ways to improve customer satisfaction, the quality of the work product, and operating efficiencies.Identify, evaluate, and mitigate operating risks inherent in the business that could materially impact the company’s reputation and/or operating results.Identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and a means to manage KPI tracking and reporting.Oversee or lead business plan initiatives and collaborate with other leaders to align resources to accomplish objectives.Stay up to date with the latest technology and industry practices and find practical applications.Provide professional advice to department personnel, project teams, or individual contributors.Develop and execute a communications plan, ensuring department members are informed of strategy, shared goals, policies, practices, and programs.Act as the Design Manager or Marine Discipline Lead for alternative delivery projects with a marine engineering component.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Coastal, Civil, and/or Ocean Engineering or related field.12+ years of engineering design experience related to urban-focused flood protection and resiliency projects.Minimum of 5 years experience managing complex coastal and waterfront engineering projects.Experience in working on teams of multidisciplinary, urban-focused flood protection and resiliency projects.PE license or equivalent required.Experience designing and delivering projects that have marine or coastal components.Experience with coastal engineering design in urban settings such as shoreline protection, waterfront parks, shoreline restoration, flood control, navigation facilities, bulkheads, dredging, and recreational boating facilities is a plus.Ability to manage projects and progress ideas to execution in a complex environment.Good negotiation, presentation, and persuasion skills. Experienced in communicating ideas, winning approval, and reaching resolutions with a variety of audiences.Strong analytical ability along with the capacity to interpret data and make recommendations.Comfortable with change and ambiguity; adaptable, collaborative and a systems thinker.Ability to manage and control quality, schedule, and budget performance of engineering teams.Flexibility to frequent travel.Other Requirements:Work productively and meet deadlines timely.Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.Base Compensation:
