The candidate will draft, prosecute, and manage U.S. and foreign patent portfolios related to small molecules and biologicals. Responsibilities include:Providing strategic counseling on all aspects of patent law, including portfolio exclusivity positions and drafting of freedom to operate and patent invalidity and non-infringement opinions.Participating in and supporting patent litigations concerning small molecules and biologics (including ANDA litigations).Working closely with clients to identify and protect new intellectual property.Counseling and educating clients’ scientists and product development/business development teams on intellectual property matters.Qualifications:Must be Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. An advanced degree in chemistry, biology, immunology, or biochemistry or substantial R&D experience is preferred. However, a bachelor’s degree with additional experience as a practicing patent attorney would be considered. Experience as an in-house lawyer in small molecule chemistry is considered a plus.
