The Brunswick School (TBS) is a top-tier childcare business with a great reputation, accommodating about 500 children in downtown Jersey City, NJ. TBS is looking for a take-charge individual who can be the right-hand person to the current Founder / Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Cultivating early learning for children from four months through First Grade, the business is currently operating three facilities all at or near capacity and is in the process of building out 2 additional facilities within the next 24 months to bring total capacity to 750 kids. The incumbent must be a self-starter and have the requisite skills to independently run all operations from the get-go.TBS’s mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and inspiring learning environment, and a holistic education that considers children’s physical, cognitive, and social/emotional well-being. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will report to the CEO and work and interact with the two other non-Management Board members who are involved in the strategic and financial matters of the business. All three Board members are passionate about the aspirations for the business and require that same passion in their future COO.The COO will oversee a business portfolio of Center Directors, providing them with the tools they need to succeed. This leadership position drives the quality and consistency of our families’ experiences in our centers to maximize customer acquisition and retention. This is a multi-unit leadership role, responsible for all centers. We are looking for someone who is passionate about education, comfortable wearing many different hats, and a reliable team player.Primary Responsibilities

Provide leadership to and manage the efforts of site staff to ensure appropriate support of all departments.Be responsible for planning and directing the organization’s operations and academic programs.Coordinate and lead annual budget reviews, monthly and quarterly reviews, and periodic forecast updates with operational and senior management for all locations.Drive focus on consistency, quality, and educational excellence.Nurture customer relationships throughout the market while driving and supporting sound business decisions with children and families in mind.Manage a business portfolio, identify sales opportunities, and drive business decisions to maximize revenue, customer retention, and acquisition.Retain a diverse, highly qualified staff by providing career coaching, growth, and personal development for workers.Maintain enrollment and grow the business to capacity by implementing creative marketing events and maintaining an operationally excellent childcare center.Create community engagement with participation with local organizations, events, and marketing to generate enrollment.Oversee professional development of all staff, including onboarding and training and development.CANDIDATE PROFILE

Professional and Personal Requirements

Minimum 8 years of supervisory experience, with at least 3 years of experience as a successful multi-unit leader.Ability to identify, develop, retain, and engage a high-performing team.Strong business acumen: ability to drive financial results and identify sales opportunities.Written communication skills, as well as verbal fluency.Strong people skills; comfort engaging with all the school’s stakeholders (students, teachers, administrative staff, parents/families, community members, service providers, and partners) in a gracious and professional manner.Leadership experience in a customer and talent-focused environment.A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day.Bachelor’s Degree required.Ability to work a flexible schedule. This is not a 9-to-5 job. The right person will understand he or she needs to put in the time required to do the job right.Willing to relocate to Jersey City or at least a comfortable commute from the facilities. This is not a remote work-from-home position.Compensation: Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $175,000 - $225,000 with a long-term incentive plan and bonus.
