OVERVIEW
Independently consults with assigned hospitals in the Southwest Transplant Alliance service area, specifically with key hospital decision makers. Assists hospitals in development of policies and procedures regarding organ/tissue donation. Educates nurses, physicians, and other hospital personnel throughout key hospital units to increase organ and tissue donation. Monitors the evaluation of referral and donation patterns through hospital needs assessments, death record reviews, Hospital Service Plans (HSPs), post donation/referral conferences, PDSA's, and case reviews with the clinical staff. Conducts services related to STA Family Services programs to families of potential organ donors and will follow up through the STA Aftercare Program; Engages with Clinical and Hospital Services leadership to foster, promote and sustain cross-departmental collaboration in support of optimal outcomes.EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, life sciences, public relations, counseling, ministry, social work, or communication is required.A minimum two years’ experience working in health care, communications, or OPO/Tissue Banking field is preferred. Experience with physician-relations is highly preferred. Relevant OPO experience is a plus.Ability to develop relationships with clients of diverse backgrounds in all areas of a health care organization. Ability to navigate through a fast-paced critical care hospital environment is essential to being successful in this role.Excellent communication skills required. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization professionally.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required.Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload.Ability to work alternate hours and respond to referrals and other situations requiring their presence and expertise.Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto to meet all job duties and responsibilities. Current Driver’s License required.Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
