OverviewTEC Equipment's TEC Development division acts as a full-service development firm, from planning to in-house architecture to general contracting across the Western United States. The division currently manages between 5-10 active projects at various stages, ranging from $5-20M.

We are seeking an Architectural Design Manager to lead design for multiple active commercial projects. The individual must have design-centric experience. The candidate must be self-driven, able to keep up with a fast pace of work, and able to effectively motivate internal teams.

The candidate will participate in all phases of the design process, with a primary focus from initial programming/site design through to preparing construction documents. This position requires an expert understanding of design and technical aspects of projects, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a passion for design and collaborative processes with construction. Primary focus areas are commercial semi-truck dealerships, which are mixed-use, consisting of offices, automotive repair bays, and industrial warehousing.

You will be the lead designer on the team. This is a good role for someone who is technically proficient and enjoys seeing their designs and intent come to fruition. Anyone with prototype management or design guideline experience is the ideal candidate. The Senior Designer will be directly responsible for exterior and interior aesthetic and space design, as well as material selections.

Responsibilities

Manage a team of architectural associates and actively mentor staff in their growth in the design profession.

Full documentation coordination with consultants, structural, MEP, landscape, and civil.

Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex site, building, and interior design challenges.

Experience with entitlements and land use processes is a plus.

Prepare preliminary plans for initial site layout and space planning.

Perform due diligence and code research at the schematic phase of the project.

Review applicable building and accessibility codes and develop a list of criteria to be reflected in the design documents.

Responsible for oversight and delivery of construction documents.

Review and contribute to proposals and contracts with the Director of Architecture.

Assist the design team by researching products and systems that accomplish the design intent.

Lead design and analysis of building thermal envelopes to optimize energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and indoor environmental quality.

Prepare construction documents including, but not limited to: demolition plans; partition plans; reflected ceiling plans; roof plans; power/communications plans; finish plans; large scale details plans; sections and elevations; detail drawings for millwork and cabinetry; schedules for doors, frames, hardware, architectural finishes, and partition types; and construction specifications for all material, finish, and product selections.

Guide skill development of architectural associates.

Work with the Director of Architecture on office activities, initiatives, and continuing education programs.

Perform permitting tasks and interact with building departments to obtain required permits.

Participate in RFI and submittal review and production of field revisions and sketches.

Perform construction site visits, punch lists, and observation reports.

Qualifications

6-10 years of

commercial architecture experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture required

Architectural licensure preferred

Experience in retail/restaurant national brands and/or workplace industries preferred

Revit proficiency required

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp

Preference for Enscape, Smartsheet, Adobe Creative Suite, and Procore

Management experience for design teams of 2-3 associates

Aptitude to communicate ideas and direction quickly

A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development

Knowledge of relevant building codes and accessibility requirements
