The University of Texas Tyler School of MedicineThe University of Texas Tyler School of Medicine seeks an accomplished leader to serve as the Chief of Hematology/Oncology. Applicants should have sufficient academic experience and credentials to qualify for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor Rank. The appointment will also be furnished with a $4M Endowed Chair.This individual will report directly to the Chair of Internal Medicine and will be responsible for developing a regionally, if not nationally, recognized division of hematology/oncology. This individual will integrate the diverse clinical and research activities within the UT Tyler School of Medicine and lead the development of a new hematology/oncology fellowship training program.Education and ExperienceDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or foreign equivalentBoard certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in Hematology/OncologyA successful track record and national reputation as an academic leader as demonstrated by scholarly achievementA commitment to the education and training of medical students, graduate students, residents, and fellowsExperience with expansion of clinical and research programs and the recruitment of additional facultyExperience with forming collaborations with other service lines throughout the health systemExperience with outreach and engagement with the broader communityA commitment to support efforts to promote a climate of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the DivisionNegotiable mix of clinical and academic commitments, allowing time for leadership responsibilitiesPrincipal Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership that promotes professional development of existing faculty members and attracts highly-motivated and exceptional faculty, staff, and students to the divisionRecruitment of academic faculty to support divisional growth and research goalsMonitor and consistently work to improve clinical quality and outcomesProgrammatic development of a robust clinical fellowship program and recruitment of high-quality fellowsDevelop clinical programs with concentrated and disease-focused practicesIncrease clinical trial enrollmentCompensationThis is a full-time position that will be performed on site in Texas. Salary commensurate with experience with a generous benefits package.
