Job Summary: Provides medical leadership to develop and maintain quality and cost-effective health care within assigned areas of clinical practice. Plans and directs an organization's medical policies, programs, and staff in the area of clinical practice.MaineGeneral Medical Center is seeking an enthusiastic board certified or board eligible PHYSIATRIST with experience or strong interest in Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation. Join our team of dedicated and patient-centered professionals in caring for patients throughout the Kennebec Valley region located in the beautiful state of Maine.Highlights of the Inpatient position include:Medical Director of Inpatient Physiatry with exciting opportunities to be involved in program development.Provide quality patient care in a state-of-the-art 12 bed, private room, hospital-based Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.Join an experienced and dynamic team of 3 Physiatrists and 4 APP's.Fully staffed and experienced MaineGeneral nursing team.Weekend call (by phone) schedule of 1 in 4, on rotation with other physiatrists and in collaboration with high-quality hospitalist team members. Exceptions, which require on-site call responsibilities, include occasional weekend admissions or emergency cases.Convenient access to hospitalist and specialist support as well as local resources.Access to expansive diagnostic services.Most common conditions include stroke, neurological disorders, Hip FX, amputation, spinal cord injury, deconditioning, multi-trauma, and brain injury.Ability to provide medical student/resident education, if desired.Collegial team with excellent patient support infrastructure and consistently positive patient review and successful rates of discharge.Use of Dragon Dictation.Acute Stroke Ready Hospital Joint Commission Certification.Stroke Rehabilitation Certification through the Joint Commission.Pain Management and Physiatry Continuity of Care Clinic.Outpatient Clinic within miles of the Alfond Center for Health.Outpatient follow-ups and procedural opportunities, averaging two, half days per week.Opportunity to perform EMGs, if desired.Convenient access to ultrasound on site.Qualifications:BC/BE Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.Patient-centered commitment to excellence.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Inpatient Physiatry experience preferred.Special interest in neurological rehabilitation preferred.MaineGeneral Medical Center's rehabilitation unit has 12 private rooms, each with lift systems, one bariatric room, telemetry ready, horticulture program and mobility garden, and specialty programs.MaineGeneral Health is Kennebec Valley's largest private employer with a strong commitment to positively impact the health of the community each day through services and involvement.
