Assistant General CounselThe OpportunityThe Assistant General Counsel will report to the General Counsel and play a critical role in providing legal guidance and operational support to Pura. Named the 2nd fastest growing company in Utah in 2023, Pura provides exciting opportunities to create broad, company-wide impact at all stages of one’s career. This position involves advising on a wide range of legal matters, including regulatory compliance, intellectual property, contracts, policy implementation, and corporate governance. In short, this position entails being a corporate generalist with future opportunity to partially specialize, if desired. The ideal candidate will have experience in the consumer products industry and a strong understanding of the legal challenges and opportunities within this sector. Experience in the fragrance industry is a major plus.

In office (Pleasant Grove, UT) preferred.Key Responsibilities:Product Compliance:

Provide strategic legal advice to the company's leadership and business units on matters related to consumer products.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing marketing, data privacy, product labeling, and distribution of consumer products.Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the consumer products industry and advise the company on necessary adjustments.

Contract Management:

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including but not limited to: SaaS, advertising and media, vendor agreements, influencer marketing, trademark licensing, and employment.Spearhead the implementation of Pura’s contract management system.Train business units on the use of contract management system.

Intellectual Property Disputes and Portfolio Management:

Assist in the management of Pura’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.Work with external counsel in handling intellectual property disputes.

Litigation and Dispute Resolution:

Oversee and manage litigation and dispute resolution.Work with external counsel to ensure effective and efficient resolution of legal matters.

Corporate Compliance:

Draft and update policies on a wide range of matters such as: employee records retention, travel, reimbursements, contract execution authorization, handling consumer data, etc.

Qualifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Active membership in good standing with a state bar, Utah preferred.Minimum of 4-6 years of legal experience, with a significant portion in the consumer products industry.Extensive knowledge of laws and regulations governing the consumer products industry and corporate law.Proven experience in contract negotiation, intellectual property management, litigation, and general corporate legal matters.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.High ethical standards and professional integrity.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in a corporate legal department of a consumer products company.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
