The principal is responsible for managing and reviewing a faculty of roughly 45 individuals. This is a twelve-month, senior administrative job requiring daily attendance at the school and participation in many weekend and evening events. The next principal must display a passion and commitment to the school witnessed through energetic engagement with all stakeholders including the Archdiocese of New York, parents, faculty, students, alumni, Board of Trustees, local officials, and donors.

Cardinal Hayes High School is an all-boys Roman Catholic High School located on the Grand Concourse in the South Bronx. Located in the poorest Congressional district in America, Hayes provides a Catholic education for students from the surrounding area and the five boroughs of New York. Cardinal Hayes opened its doors in 1941 and, like many urban Catholic High Schools, is faced with financial stresses. The principal will be expected to collaborate on important areas, particularly as it may relate to curriculum and student scheduling.
