We can offer you:Salary Range: $110,000 - $120,000Excellent Benefit packageAmazing Retirement packagePaid Time offEmployer-paid Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability planFree parkingSupervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; processes employee concerns and problems; directs work; counsels and disciplines; and completes employee performance appraisals.Provides strategic and daily leadership of the Human Resources Department and directs all personnel and benefits policies and programs.Advises department heads and leadership on human resource policy and benefits administration issues.Coordinates, assigns, and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors the status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.Provides continuous advice and guidance on legal and technical trends to ensure adherence to legal requirements, policies, and procedures.Administers a variety of programs, including benefits, employee relations, vendor negotiations, and discipline.Confers with department and division heads, county officials, employees, and the general public regarding job evaluation, classification, and pay problems or interpreting regulations, policies, procedures, and contracts as they apply to classification, compensation, and personnel records and benefits.Conducts misconduct investigations with the assistance of legal counsel when necessary.Consults with and advises department heads regarding employment decisions to maximize the quality of the organization’s workforce.Assists decision-makers with developing and recommending compensation actions/practices.Develops and implements programs and practices to recruit and hire talented individuals for Galveston County Health District.Researches legislation and employment laws affecting human resources; keeps management informed of new developments; monitors policies to ensure compliance.Requires Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related major.Requires ten years of experience in human resources applications and management or closely related experience.Requires five progressive years of experience in a HR leadership position.Special Certifications and Licenses:SHRM or similar professional organization’s certification is highly preferred.An equivalent combination of education and work experience that appropriately demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above-described essential functions will be considered when hiring for this role.Equal Opportunity StatementThe County of Galveston is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, genetic information or veteran status.
