Lead Network Engineer (Onsite)We have an immediate need for a contract Lead Network Engineer to join an IT consulting & services firm. The Lead Network Engineer will handle high-level support tickets that include firewall policies, VPN deployments and provisioning, and switch installs to support clients.
Location: Stockton, CA (Onsite)
This job expects to pay about $52 – 62 per hour plus benefits.
What Gets You The Job:
Mastery of networking principles including TCP/IP, OSI model, subnetting, VLANs, routing, and switching, with a deep understanding of advanced concepts such as MPLS, QoS, multicast, and IPv6.
Extensive experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Palo Alto and Cisco firewall platforms, including Palo Alto Networks’ Panorama management system.
In-depth knowledge of network security principles with a focus on advanced firewall configurations, including application-layer filtering, URL filtering, threat prevention, and advanced persistent threat (APT) protection.
Proficiency in configuring and managing IDPS solutions such as Palo Alto Networks’ Threat Prevention subscription service and Cisco Firepower services.
Expertise in implementing and managing VPN solutions, including site-to-site VPNs, remote access VPNs (SSL/IPsec VPNs), and VPN concentrators on Palo Alto and Cisco platforms.
Advanced skills in automation and scripting using Python or other scripting languages to streamline network operations, automate firewall rule management, and integrate with orchestration and automation frameworks.
Experience in integrating on-premises network security solutions with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including knowledge of cloud-native security services and best practices.
Proficient in troubleshooting complex network issues using packet capture analysis tools like Wireshark, log analysis, and correlation tools, with the ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.
Expertise in designing and implementing high availability and redundancy solutions for firewalls and network infrastructure, including active/passive and active/active failover configurations.
Possession of relevant certifications such as Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), Cisco Certified (CCIE/CCNP/CCNA) in Security, or equivalent certifications demonstrating advanced proficiency in firewall technologies.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead network engineering teams, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical guidance on complex network security projects.
Experience in vendor relationship management, including evaluating new technologies, negotiating contracts, and managing vendor support relationships for Palo Alto and Cisco firewall products.
