Position InformationPosition Title:

Assistant Director of Research and Pipeline DevelopmentOverview:Identify, research, and analyze prospects for major and leadership gift cultivation and solicitation. Provide information, knowledge, coordination, and tools that support Advancement in achieving its fundraising goals. Partner with gift officers to inform prospect strategy and help gift officers move prospective donors through stages of the fundraising cycle.Employ advanced research data collection and analysis skills to proactively identify, research, and assess the philanthropic giving capacity of prospective donors. Accurately and efficiently analyze complex financial disclosure documents, real estate, and other wealth indicators for the purpose of determining accurate capacity ratings. Provide information on private company valuations and valuation options, as well as analysis of hedge funds, venture capital, and private equity for the purpose of determining net worth.Assist the director in developing plans and strategies for the management and expansion of the overall pool of prospects and donors through a broad range of proactive prospect identification projects. Work closely with the fundraising teams, with a specific focus on developing the leadership gift program, to ensure fundraiser portfolios are robust, contain strong, viable prospects, and are supported by a continual flow of newly identified and efficiently rated prospect donors. Serve as a partner to front-line fundraisers in the creation of donor strategy.Maintain a working knowledge of all functions and systems related to prospect management, including software applications, industry best practices and standards of ethics, fundraising concepts and principles, and department policies. Safeguard and uphold the confidentiality of constituent information.Maintain research and portfolio data in CRM, including, but not limited to, assignment data, research information, pipeline segmentation (constituent statuses), capacity ratings, relationships, business and organizational affiliations, awards, news articles, assets, interests, charitable giving, and political giving. Assist with maintenance of biographical, employment, education, and family relationship data as needed.Marginal Duties:Perform all other duties as may be required.Education and Experience Required:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.Three to five years’ experience in higher education, development, fundraising, or healthcare, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Advanced skills with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Teams.Advanced experience working in a CRM system. Specific knowledge of Salesforce Affinaquest preferred.Strong research and technical skills, including proficiency with electronic research sources including online databases.Strong interpersonal skills working with a variety of teams and navigating a complex work environment.Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to present information and ideas in a group setting.High level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgement and discretion.Dedication to professional development for themselves and the team.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
