Poder Latinx is a civic and social justice organization dedicated to building and strengthening the political power of the Latinx community nationwide. The organization leads an integrated voter engagement program where all aspects of voter engagement, issue-based campaigns, leadership development, voting reform, voter protection, and narrative change form a continuous cycle of political engagement and consciousness. Through our work, Poder Latinx empowers and equips the Latinx community to become agents of change.With field programs in six states (FL, AZ, GA, CA, WA, TX), Poder Latinx is entering an exciting period of growth. This involves investing in strong internal operational infrastructure, organizational planning, and internal processes to enable effective collaboration across the organization.The position:

Poder Latinx seeks an entrepreneurial leader to serve as the organization’s Development Director. The Director is effective at storytelling, supporting organizational growth and strategy development, and nurturing relationships across the progressive ecosystem. Reporting to the Executive Director and as part of the Senior Leadership Team, the director will manage the organization’s development strategy, operating systems and staff. In partnership with the Executive Director, this role will steward and grow a $6M+ portfolio of individual and foundation partners, and contribute to Poder Latinx’s long-term sustainability. The Director will work with staff across national and state program teams to identify, cultivate and steward new partnerships to support Poder Latinx’s year-round civic engagement and power building work across our 501c3, 501c4, and PAC entities.Key responsibilities:Design and maintain Poder Latinx’s development and fundraising infrastructure to support effective donor cultivation, proposal submissions, and reporting requirements.Develop and lead a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet Poder Latinx’s annual goals. This includes identifying and managing a process for cultivating new funding opportunities for both C3 and C4 resources, and setting collateral development priorities.Provide leadership, training, and management support to the development team to strengthen the organization’s fundraising efforts, including sharing best practices, tools, and resources.In partnership with the Executive Director, support long-term relationships with foundation officers through direct relationship management and supporting staff to cultivate those partnerships.Manage proposal and reporting processes for Poder Latinx’s core institutional donors, which includes drafting compelling proposals and reports.Lead collaboration with staff across the organization to identify and pursue prospective funding opportunitiesIn collaboration with the leadership team, regularly assess progress towards the organization’s revenue goals and support budget management on an ongoing basis.Partner with the programs and communications departments to organize funder education opportunities, including briefings, conference participation, and events.In partnership with the Senior Leadership Team, shape Poder Latinx’s impact evaluation and reporting framework and approach.Manage donor cultivation, leading meetings to make asks and supporting the team to close contributions.Serve as a thought partner to the ED to ensure their time is best utilized in fundraising.Design a new individual donor strategy, which includes launching a pilot campaign to transform Poder Latinx advocates into active supporters.QualificationsThe Development Director will be a fundraising professional with 5+ years of relevant experience. They will have the following qualifications:Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing a fundraising team. This requires the ability to lead planning and goal-setting, support staff development and growth, and provide guidance as needed.Understanding of Poder Latinx’s civic engagement work, and core issues of environmental, economic and immigrant justice.A proven track record of managing fundraising in a progressive advocacy organization, with a preference for combined c3 and c4 development experience.Knowledge of key stakeholder groups, including labor, media, and civic engagement tables.Experience collaborating with Executive Leadership to effectively achieve resultsAttention to detail and experience developing organizational systems, including interest in improving Poder Latinx’s fundraising operational infrastructure.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience shaping compelling donor communications and materials. This includes the ability to communicate complex programs clearly.Highly organized with the ability to work independently and exceptional follow-throughAbility to collaborate across geographies, programs, and departments to shape and pursue funding opportunities.Knowledge of key fundraising strategies, including foundation solicitation, major gifts, events and annual giving.Oral and written Spanish proficiency preferred.Ability to travel as requested.Strong understanding of and commitment to Poder Latinx’s vision and mission.Preferred QualificationsExperience working within a national organization with programs across multiple geographiesThe salary for this position is $80,000 - $100,000. Benefits include a generous health benefits and time off package including healthcare, dental and vision coverage at no cost to the employee, 3 weeks of vacation (1 week fixed) as well as sick leave and paid family leave.
