Description

The Regional Sales Manager ensures customer retention and profitability by hiring, training, and measuring the performance of truck salespeople and establishing customer-focused sales standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Planning Duties

Collaborate with the sales management team to forecast aggressive, yet realistic annual and monthly goals and objectives for the department.

Direct and schedule the activities of all department employees, ensuring, proper staffing at all times.

Review inventory daily to ensure the proper mix of grounded stock for maximum turnover efficiency.

Analyze sales history and market conditions to determine inventory requirements, recommending trucks to be carried by color, model, and equipment to the Director of Sales.

Establish standards for displaying, merchandising and maintaining new and used vehicles.

Collaborate planning and implementation with sales management team of all sales contests.

Leadership

Lead a team made up of truck sales staff, and a truck transfer driver(s), in an assigned region.

Embody and promote honesty, integrity, respect, professionalism and seamless execution of duties.

Train, motivate, council and monitor the performance of all truck sales staff.

Assist individual truck sales staff members in setting aggressive, yet realistic monthly goals and objectives and provide them with the support to meet these goals.

Actively sell trucks to meet the goals outlined in the Departments business plan.

Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that affect vehicle sales.

Guide sales team to grow margin.

Drive the use of professional sales presentations beyond a SmartSpec printout.

Drive the use of feature/benefit product walk-around as the primary method of selling.

Explain, implement, and enforce dealership policies, emphasizing customer satisfaction and a positive dealership image.

Conduct sales training meetings and provide truck sales staff with continuous product and training resources.

Increase the overall profitability of the dealership by successfully implementing manufacturer programs.

Ensure that the truck sales staff is informed of all new inventory and current advertising efforts, including special sales.

Recommend for dismissal any department team member failing to meet dealership standards.

Conduct major sales promotions in accordance with dealership goals and objectives.

Promote teamwork in a customer-focused sales environment throughout the sale, delivery and follow up process.

Establish delivery procedures and ensure that delivery includes an introduction to the parts and service departments.

Ensure 100% turnover of each customer to F&I.

Handle customer complaints immediately and according to dealership's guidelines.

Drive sales team use of CRM, requiring sales team to input data on a daily basis.

Conduct weekly sales meetings.

Help truck sales staff close deals when necessary.

Maintain a professional appearance.

Attend manager meetings as requested.

Other tasks as assigned.

Evaluation

Monitor the productivity and planned itineraries of salespeople.

Ensure the proper follow-up of all potential buyers by utilizing our CRM software.

Maintain vehicle inventory. Monitor customers likes and dislikes, track customer interest in vehicles not in stock (lost sales), dealership sales history, and conduct local market analyses to determine which vehicles to stock.

Reporting

Complete deal recap sheets and turn them into the Sales Coordinator in a prompt and timely manner.

Conduct a weekly physical inventory and report it to the Director of Sales.

Prepare other reports for upper management as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Minimum of Associates degree or equivalent experience.

Five years vehicle sales experience; one to two years heavy-truck sales management; two to three years selling heavy-duty trucks to end customers.

Intermediate to advanced computer skills with fundamental computer operations, spreadsheets, word processing, database, e-mail, and CRM software.

Must have a valid CDL and meet insurability requirements with the Company's insurance company.
