ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our growth team which is responsible for exciting projects on both our shef and consumer platforms. You'll be working with a talented team of 7 software engineers, as well as Product and Design partners. As an Engineering Manager, you will play a crucial role in setting the standards for our team's success as we continue to scale, as well as be responsible for mentoring and growing our team, and be a key player in executing on our company's mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead a team of talented engineers who like to ship code and tackle hard engineering problems

Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of your team members

Help your team members grow in their careers and assign projects tailored to their skill levels, personalities, work styles, and professional goals

Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in the team's code, architecture, and processes

Own the OKRs and business metrics for your team working closely with Product and Design

Provide focus and direction by driving execution on some of our highest priority projects

Work with engineers and product managers to maintain a prioritized backlog and create short-term and long-term goals

Co-own your team's deliverables and strategy, identifying high impact opportunities that delight our customers and shefs

Work closely with the Shef recruiting team to hire high impact candidates from diverse backgrounds

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong technical background and expertise in optimally prioritizing projects and identifying quick, efficient strategies to test hypotheses

Steadfast commitment to putting customers first

5+ years as an engineer with 1+ years of experience managing engineering teams

Track record of developing engineers and helping to grow their careers

Expert debugging skills and the ability to drive a culture of experimentation, testing, and iteration

Willingness to be hands-on and support your team whenever necessary whether coding, debugging, or testing new product features

Desire to build teams and products from 0-1 with an eye for long-term scalability

Proven track record working in collaborative environments with Product, Design, Marketing and other Engineering Managers

Commitment to creatively driving projects to completion

The ability to motivate your team and instill a strong sense of ownership to team members

Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving

Love to SHIP IT!

PREFERRED

Experience building marketplace products

Strong SQL skills and a proven track record of identifying opportunities to build a data-driven culture

Worked in a consumer marketplace leading a growth-focused team

Experience with data pipelines / martech (Amplitude / customer.io)
