We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer for Hardware Test. As a Senior Software Engineer for Hardware Test, you will be directly responsible for helping define and implement the infrastructure to support all levels and phases of hardware testing at IonQ. You will work with partner teams to understand the pain points and problems to be solved and be able to implement scalable solutions. You have experience working with real hardware and understand how your code interacts with the hardware under test. You can work with partner teams to define your system in terms of requirements and help develop and implement your solutions.

Responsibilities:

Work with hardware engineers as your customer to understand issuesWork with the team and other stakeholders to refine the test software architectureCreate scalable solutions to automate testing on common lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, etc.Automate data analysis and statisticsWork with team members to select equipment for hardware test

You'd be a good fit with:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent5+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Python, C++, or C# including object-oriented designDemonstrated experience contributing to the architecture and design of a complex software infrastructureExperience developing software for an automated test infrastructureWorking knowledge of testing methodologies for electrical systems

8+ years of developing software for hardware testExperience developing software for testing optical devicesExperience building and delivering scalable, complex software systems to customersExperience developing software interfaces for testing over LAN, CAN, SCPI or similarExperience building scalable test solutions for hardwareExperience leading teams

Our HQ is located in College Park, Maryland and we are a 15 minute metro ride from Washington DC. We have also recently announced our new manufacturing and production facility in the Seattle, Washington area. We are actively building out teams in the Washington D.C., Seattle and Toronto metro areas and will want to locate you in one of these geographies. However, IonQ will be expanding into additional geographies both domestically and internationally so don't let this stop you from applying.
