The Algorithm & Data Science Group within AES Advanced Tech Team creates advanced algorithms in the fields of machine learning, artificial intelligence, signal processing, intelligent control, and other areas of electrical engineering and computer science that are of strategic interest to the AES Business Unit’s goals and roadmaps.We are looking for Research Scientists to join our growing Algorithm & Data Science Group. Research Scientists will work in a collaborative and hands-on environment to solve challenging problems that arise from AES’ diverse portfolio of applications and are expected to advance the scientific and technological state of the art in the areas of interest to the Business Unit.Responsibilities

Create novel algorithms specialized for applications relevant to the Automotive Electrification and Sustainable Energy Business Unit's strategy.Develop software simulations and analyze performance of algorithms.Work with other researchers and engineers, inside and outside the AES Advanced Technology Team, to connect our work with the goals of the AES business units.Lead or contribute to prototyping efforts.Work with domain experts to define, understand, and clarify problem statements.Derive core mathematical expression for problems of interest.Build proof of concepts, and test environments to validate algorithms.Work with product development engineering teams to implement algorithms.Work with our Customers, their customers, and Research institutions to understand issues and where we can create value.Be a lead contributor to the technical execution of projects.Clearly and effectively communicate the results of analysis and action plans both verbally and in writing.Stay abreast of state-of-the-art algorithms, and research advances beyond the state of the art in areas relevant to AES.Required Skillset:

Assumes PhD degree or equivalent experience (5+ years Industrial Experience).This search is open to new Ph.D.’s as well as more experienced candidates. More senior candidates should have experience in organizing and leading technical projects.Should have a strong background in at least one of the following areas: Algorithm Development, Machine Learning/AI and Data Analysis, Mathematical Modeling and Simulation, Digital Signal Processing, Control Algorithms Design.Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.)Desirable Experience

Experience in battery algorithms (either traditional or ML/AI based)Digital signal processingBattery Management Systems (BMS) design and controlExperience modeling electro-chemical systems.For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
