Under the direction of the EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist is responsible for driving world-class EHS performance at the site, overseeing EHS programs, and ensuring the Company’s compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. The role involves improving performance by providing mentoring, coaching, and training to all levels. This includes developing all compliance requirements, attending audits, and developing action plans to cover all requirements.Your Responsibilities:Assist with maintaining and implementing cost-effective EHS programs that ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and policies relating to safety and the environment.Assist with and maintain all required environmental permits for the process, equipment, or discharges generated at the facility, including management of hazardous and universal waste.Provide guidance and support to management on EHS issues, working closely with all levels of employees to establish, maintain, and improve EHS programs.Develop a thorough knowledge of equipment and materials used in the facility, including pollution control devices.Promptly notify the EHS Manager and appropriate operations supervisor of potential enforcement issues, accidents, or control device malfunctions.Aid in the timely preparation of required reports to regulatory agencies as requested.Develop and implement procedures/SWIs to reduce safety/environmental risks and to address emergency situations.Review materials used by manufacturing operations and maintain the SDS database.Maintain a comprehensive and organized record-keeping system so that the facility can verify compliance with all applicable regulations.Ensure responsible parties are immediately notified of EHS concerns and that action is taken promptly.As appropriate, assign, retain, and oversee vendors and contractors dealing with EHS issues.Attend training sessions, meetings, and seminars to maintain proficiency in EHS areas.Develop and provide EHS-related training programs to ensure employees' knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations and requirements.Manage Fire Protection Systems operation, testing, and record keeping, implementing elements of the WNC Fire Prevention Plan.Assist with annual property inspections and record keeping.Spill response and containment as needed.Manage ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) for Lafayette.Other duties as assigned.Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred Major: Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, or similar field).Knowledge and/or training courses specific for this position:

Hazardous Waste Management and special handling.Accident prevention.Environmental legislation.First aid.ISO 14001 Auditor.OSHA regulations.Risk assessment.
