BIG DATA Careers is currently looking for an experienced data scientist for one of our clients. The Data Scientist leads quantitative aspects of projects to analyze human performance variability as it relates to business outcomes. Incumbent recommends and determines how processes could be operationalized and scaled. He/she uses sound problem solving skills, statistical modeling, and database analysis to solve complex business problems and support sales and business development efforts.Key Job Responsibilities
Understand the customer problem; determine what needs to be solved for; use data to support solution.Identify all possible data points needed for the project.Gather data from disparate sources (i.e. customers, government, and open sites) and in disparate formats (i.e. XML, JSON, xls, txt, csv, etc).Store, organize, and ensure security of all collected data.Clean & merge data sets to develop broader data sets for analysis.Own and oversee quality assurance of data management processes.Identify relationships, patterns, and factors that drive data sets using statistical methods, such as: regressions, correlations, clustering, principal components, etc.Build complex data models; identify obscure relationships to help solve business problems.Effectively break down and communicate complex mathematical and performance-based theories.Design statistical and mathematical models for reporting and predictive analytics.Analyze historical data & business problems; apply integrative thinking to identify trends and make business recommendations.Predict future events & data points using existing data sets and machine learning methods, such as: Naive Bayes, Decision Trees, Network Analysis, etc.Lead and perform quantitative analytics, research, and modeling projects.Communicate key data findings using intuitive visualization and executive summaries using techniques, such as: scatter plots, scatter matrices, box plots, histograms, bar charts, bubble charts, etc.Responsibilities of this position involve problem framework, developing hypothesis, test and analysis, solutions development, historical trend analysis, predictive modeling, scoping operational feasibility and collaborating with team members on developing implementation efforts with monitoring plans/solutions.Other duties as assigned.Company:

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative discipline (mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, economics, etc).1-2 years related experience.Extensive experience using R and Python (Pandas, MatPlotLib, Numpy).Sound knowledge of what descriptive and prescriptive methods to apply based on the specific problem that needs to be solved.Expertise with visually communicating data to lay audiences.Experience working in a commercial environment.Firm grasp of scientific methods and how to conduct experiments.Experience applying data analysis techniques to different business problems.Excellent quantitative modeling, analytical, research and programming skills.A self-starter with a great customer-centric, problem-solving and “can-do” attitude.Must have outstanding attention to detail and a good grasp of task feasibility and effort/duration.Strong project management skills, with the ability to work independently on multiple tasks and/or projects.Must be able to take initiative and meet deadlines.Tenacious; dedicated to problem-solving; naturally curious; focused on identifying obscure relationships; independent; solution-oriented thinker.Strong background processing huge data sets, applying analytical rigor & statistical methods.Able to drive towards insights & solutions.Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.Experience using source control such as GitHub/Git for scripts.Experience with Hadoop and MapReduce, specifically Cloudera or AWS EMR.Experience with presentation data stores; NoSQL databases (Mongo, Couchbase, Dynamo), SQL, RDBMS such as AWS RDS (MySQL), or using tools such as Impala.AWS administrative experience (ability to set up servers, security groups).Educational level:
