Position Summary:Samsung SDS plays a leading role in the global logistics market with unique logistics services. Based on the extensive experience and expertise it built over the years, Samsung SDS started to provide tech-based logistics services in 2012 and has now grown into a global top-level third-party logistics company.As Claims Counsel, you identify significant legal issues and you are a source of technical/practical legal advice. You demonstrate a depth of knowledge and skills in relevant legal areas for urgent matters for our internal clients as well as for legal projects within Samsung SDS. You influence the business to promote good legal practices and explain difficult issues clearly and work with others to establish consensus. You provide legal advice for a resolution of logistics claims, including those arising out of warehouse operations and transportation, develop and maintain SOPs for claims processes, and help file claims with relevant insurance carriers. This requires understanding of the logistics and supply chain, ability to establish priorities and take actions, reporting and analyses, and collaborating with other business stakeholders within and outside the organization.Responsibilities:Draft, review, and negotiate the full range of legal documents relating to various claimsInternal communication with relevant stakeholders and external communication with insurance broker, carriers, third-party administrators, legal counsel etc.Act as the internal subject matter expert to provide interpretation and explanation of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to claimsAnalyze collected data to determine claim validity and coverage and/or liabilityProvide legal advice to internal clients for the resolution of claims and complaintsIdentify legislative and regulatory changes and recommend appropriate actionDevelop and distribute key reports and analyses, including claim reports and ad hoc reports for managementPromote legal compliance and best practices across the businessDeliver training and training materials to the business on key legal areasWork within company guidelines to review, analyze, and negotiate contractual agreements with customers, shippers, consignees, or carriersEscalate and coordinate with External Claims Adjusters (e.g., cargo/freight forwarders insurance carriers, etc.) in order to resolve claims issuesAssist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for logistics processes and claimsDevelop, prepare, and implement claims litigation strategy, including affecting settlements and insurance coverage limitsWork toward the resolution of claims files and attend arbitrations, mediations, or trials as necessaryPerform other duties as assignedRequirements/Qualifications:Active member of Texas or California bar license in good standingAt least 6 years’ relevant legal working experience, particularly in trucks/trailers, cargo/freight damages, property damages, maritime claims, disputes, and insuranceAble to produce reports to support findings and analysesExtremely organized and detail-orientedExcellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate information in a clear and understandable mannerBe able to multitask and collaborate across different time zones, and have a high sense of urgencySelf-motivated individual, assertive attitude, excel in a team-based environment yet able to work independentlyProficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and web-based applications, claims platformStrong customer service, people skillsTravel %:

This allows you to progress as you grow and develop within the position.
