This Field Investigator position will focus on acquiring information from HIV-infected adults participating in the Medical Monitoring Project (MMP). MMP is a supplemental HIV surveillance activity funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with the goal of assessing the demographics, service utilization patterns, current health status, and recent risk behaviors of HIV-positive persons currently accessing health care. MMP Field Investigators will work with a list of randomly sampled HIV positive individuals who are both in care and out of care to identify and locate eligible participants. For sampled eligible persons who agree to participate, the Field Investigator will conduct an interview from a standardized questionnaire, either in person or over the telephone. The Field Investigator will be proficient in spoken and written English and Spanish. The Investigator will work with medical facility staff to locate and secure access to relevant medical records and perform medical record abstractions (MRA) from lengthy, complicated charts for all sampled eligible patients throughout the California Project Area. Occasional travel in California may be part of the position, as will the ability to effectively work with a variety of people, including healthcare administrators, clinicians, HIV-infected individuals, and medical records personnel. The Field Investigator must conduct all operations in accordance with CDC guidelines and California law pertaining to information security and patient confidentiality, and assist with program implementation, coordination, data monitoring, quality improvement, and quality control as needed.Department Description

The Alliance Health Project (AHP) is a community-based LGBTQ+ and HIV-focused clinic located at 1930 Market Street in San Francisco. We provide psychotherapy, substance use counseling, case management, support groups, psychiatry, sexual health services, clinical traineeship, and provider education and training. Our multi-disciplinary staff are a client-centered, collaborative, Harm Reduction-oriented team. We have continued to grow as a community-based clinic by anticipating and addressing the changing needs of our LGBTQ+ and HIV community members for more than 35 years. Our process of continuous improvement of service to our community includes a strong focus on cultural humility and anti-racist service provision.Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area and minimum three years of experience / or equivalent experience / training.Valid California driver's license2 years of experience in one or more of the following: interviewing, surveillance, qualitative research, canvassing, or counselingKnowledge associated with recruitment procedures.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.Analytical / problem-solving skills.Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.Ability to conduct interviews in SpanishPreferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a field related to public health (such as an MPH)2 years of medical record chart abstraction experiencePrevious experience working with medical providers who serve people living with HIV and AIDSAbout UCSF
