Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist II to join our Responsible & OpenAI Research (ROAR) team within Azure Cognitive Services. As a Research Scientist II, you will play a key role in advancing the field of Responsible AI (Artificial Intelligence) to ensure safe releases of the rapidly advancing AI technologies, as well as to expand and enhance our Azure AI Content Safety Service.Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Research Advancements: Conduct cutting-edge research to develop responsible AI methodologies, algorithms, and models. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in the field and contribute to the scientific community through publications at top venues.Safe AI release and Content Safety Service: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy our technology that enables safe release of Azure OpenAI Service, expand and enhance the Azure AI Content Safety Service. Develop innovative approaches to address AI safety challenges for diverse customer scenarios.Contribute to the development of responsible AI policies, guidelines, and best practices that can be operationalized in responsible AI technology stack.Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research).OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research).OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field.OR equivalent experience.2+ years of research experience in Computer Vision, Multimodal analysis, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, or a related field.Publication(s) in conferences or journals in AI related fields, e.g., CVPR (Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition).Experience with algorithmic problem-solving & software development and experience with open-source tools such as PyTorch.Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization tools.Technical Skills: Experience with large-scale data processing, distributed computing, or cloud platforms.Research Experience: Demonstrated expertise in responsible AI and fairness considerations.Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to support research advancements.
