Thomas James Homes is seeking an experienced Vice President of Operations to support our SoCal Division located in Culver City, CA. The VP of Operations will be responsible for identifying and negotiating the purchases of new development for Thomas James Homes and will help ensure that our business plan objectives are achieved by establishing strategic partnerships with Brokers and Land Sellers within the market.Day In The LifePlan and direct construction activities in the field either directly or through utilizing Project Managers and Superintendents.Develop and implement construction standards, processes, field employee training and development.Collaborate with the team in developing and producing new product plans.Partner with public agencies/permit departments to obtain all necessary permits and approvals.Recruit, lead and retain qualified teams by providing the right tools and guidance and setting them up for success.Collaborate with/manage trade partners throughout the construction process.Ensure that projects are built within budget and on schedule.Set build times on each plan and provide schedules to meet the build time.Build and oversee Purchasing, Warranty and Design departments.Ensure job sites adhere to company safety standards.Contribute in resolving issues related to daily construction activities (vendor contracts, work orders, job progress and design among other things).Serve as the face of Thomas James Homes in the LA area and liaise with leaders across the building industry and the community at large to promote the company’s objectives throughout the region.Develop and maintain excellent working relationships both internally and with subcontractors and vendors.Exercise initiative in organizing and completing assigned tasks according to established guidelines, procedures, deadlines, and department parameters.Solve problems by using judgment based upon knowledge of construction schedules, management policies and departmental practices and procedures.What You’ll NeedBachelor's Degree in Construction, Business or other related fields.10+ years of experience in a senior leadership role.Extensive high-volume homebuilding operations experience including P&L management, strategic and operational planning, purchasing, scheduling and trade management.Track record of building and managing high-performance teams who complete high-profile projects on-schedule and within budget.What Will Set You ApartStrong presentation and project management skills.Strong understanding of the local real-estate market and business acumen.Develops and manages budgets within the asset management area including forecasting and adjusting as required.Strong research and assessment skills to uncover deals and determine feasibility.Expert at understanding a market, trends, integrating multiple sources of information, and pricing use in all framing and deal making.Knows how to conduct due diligence and thorough deal review to determine viability.The compensation range for this role is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.Thomas James Homes is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
