However, getting to this future will be messy and confusing! Lanai, a contraction of "Lean Into AI”, aims to help. Lanai will offer a software platform that helps companies adopt AI-based models and applications in a productive, cost-effective, and secure manner. Lanai was founded in early 2023 by Steve Herrod (former CTO of VMware) and the talented team at Juxtapose. Own the design and implementation of our Machine Learning infrastructureDevelop and optimize AI technologies to streamline, automate, and optimize LanaiDevelop custom models and algorithms to apply to large datasets, as well as processes for monitoring and analyzing their performanceMine and analyze data to build and train ML models that optimize customer experiences, customer acquisition, and other business outcomesCollaborate cross-functionally to deploy AI solutionsBe results-driven to consistently deliver software improvements to our usersProduce high-quality, production-ready, readable, maintainable codeLend your technical expertise to unblock and invest in other engineers on your teamWhat You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field4+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying ML models in real-world production systems, preferably at least 1 year at a seed, Series A, or Series B companyExperience in using Python for analysis and modeling with ML frameworks and libraries (Scikit-learn, Pytorch, Tensorflow, LightGBM, Keras, etc.)Deep knowledge of LLMs concepts - Prompt Engineering, RAG and fine-tuning LLMsExperience building deep learning and transformer modelsExperience working in a cloud environment such as AWS, GCP, AzureAbility to share findings in easy to consume formats, whether that is through dashboards or data modelingDesigning and building data pipelines for production-level ML infrastructureA self-starter owner’s mentality with an unquenchable desire to learnSharp at problem-solving, critical thinking, and systems thinkingProactive communicator, both verbal and written, around technical decisions and project deadlinesBiased towards action and speed of deliveryWorking Environment
Lanai is based in the SF Bay Area and we have an intentionally flexible hybrid approach to work. We have a regular in-office cadence for team connection and brainstorming sessions, with the flexibility for remote work the rest of the time. We use the best collaboration tools, schedule regular offsites, and plan for team bonding experiences.What We Offer
