We are seeking a scientifically curious and experienced biochemist with a versatile skill base and an interest in contributing to a fast-paced, team-oriented, drug discovery enterprise. The top candidates will have several years of experience in industry and across a diversity of biochemistry disciplines such as protein chemistry, protein expression & purification, biophysics, enzymology, and structural biology.
What you would do
Biology Lead on multiple programs, from target validation to IND-enabling studies.
Work closely with the Head of Biology and CSO to identify and evaluate targets and their mechanism of action/activation.
Implement biology capabilities associated with PostEra’s targets including protein production, biophysical and enzymatic characterization.
Manage implementation and execution of key experiments at multiple CROs, analyze and report data to internal team and help implement internal capabilities.
Develop novel biochemical and biophysical assays and technologies needed for target ID/validation as well as to progress compounds from hit validation through hit to lead activities into lead optimization and beyond.
Provide the mechanistic elucidation required for the optimization of potency and properties to inform deeper pharmacology relevant studies.
Build the strategy associated with targets of interest, from market research to target product profile, define assay cascade and critical Go/No Go.
Experience and skills you should have
PhD in biology or related discipline with >4 years industry experience in the field of Biochemistry, Enzymology, Biophysics or related field.
Expertise in designing, interpreting, and troubleshooting experiments using several biophysics, bioanalytical, enzymology, and/or structural biology techniques (e.g. ITC, NMR, SPR, BLI/Octet, GCI, nanoDSF, MST, enzyme kinetics, SEC-HPLC, LC/MS).
Broad experience in cell biology/pharmacology.
Adept at navigating and influencing a multi-disciplinary matrix environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written.
Willing to travel up to 10% annually.
Bonus experience and skills
Experience in virology ( in vitro
assays such as viral culture, neutralization and quantification assays, virus growth, tittering, and
in vivo
infection models) and/or reproductive endocrinology strongly preferred.
Salary: 150k - 200k
Equity: .10% - 0.20%
