Applicants should have established an excellent portfolio in advanced biostatistical methods such as causal inference, repeated measures design, and various regression techniques. Applicants should have experience working with electronic health record (EHR) data, administrative data such as medical claims, and physiologic sensor data. In addition, we are interested in applicants who have experience managing and maintaining large databases and can execute signal processing or machine learning techniques on raw physiologic data. The ideal applicant should have a strong programming background (e.g., Python, R, SQL, SAS, and/or STATA) and the drive and enthusiasm to learn about clinical care by assisting in state-of-the-art patient-centered research. The most difficult aspects of this position involve applying the appropriate statistical methods to research questions. The Data Scientist will be responsible for translating research questions into analytic plans and analyzing data, including medical and pharmacy claims data and clinical data; conducting valid statistical tests and statistical models and communicating findings in presentations and manuscripts. Conceptualization of these analyses may be challenging and involve hierarchical models or repeated measures design. The Data Scientist is responsible for checking the accuracy and reliability of the data analyses.Reporting to Dr David Levine, the Data Scientist will work across all phases of the research project, including extraction and organization of clinical and other data from a variety of information systems, automated data cleaning and verification, design, administration and construction of databases, analysis using valid statistical approaches, and development of new informatics and clinical tools.
