to represent GEICO in
Subrogation
lawsuits filed throughout the State of California and defend GEICO insured in property damage suits. This position reports to the San Diego Staff Counsel office, located in
Poway, CA
and may be remote once qualifications are met. Under close supervision, DEFENDS lawsuits against GEICO insureds and represents GEICO in subrogation, Uninsured Motorist (UM) and Underinsured Motorist (UIM) matters.Job Summary:
Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.Render opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, to include depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath based on jurisdiction.Defend by trial, arbitration, or mediation all matters assigned, as applicable.Meet deadlines to respond to pleadings and correspondence.Adhere to the GEICO Code of Conduct, company policies and operating principles.Meet attendance standard of the business location, to perform necessary job functions and to facilitate interaction with management and co-workers.Basic Qualifications:
Juris Doctor degree REQUIREDAdmission to the California Bar REQUIRED0-2 years of experience in personal injuryMust be able to travel as required, including but not limited, to attend trials, hearings, and depositionsMust be able to document files in a clear, concise, professional written manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers, and other employees of the organization.Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.Location – HYBRID:
This position will require 2-3 days working in office and attending in person hearings/trials.Benefits:

$85,000.00 - $132,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
