Duties
WHAT IS THE WAGE AND INVESTMENT DIVISION?Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas:Wage and Investment Customer Assistance, Relationship and Education - Field Assistance - Area 4The following are the duties of this position at the full working level:Assists and advises taxpayers in meeting their Federal Tax obligations, covering individual income, excise, and employment taxes.Conducts interviews with taxpayers to determine their tax situation and provide advice.Discusses tax law impact with tax practitioners and accountants, reviewing books and records.Confers with taxpayers and/or their representatives to explain tax law applicability.Assists taxpayers in preparing tax returns and explains the collection and examination processes.Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.Must successfully complete a background investigation.Qualifications
Federal experience is not required. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:GENERAL EXPERIENCE FOR GS-05:
You must have three years of general experience, one year of which was at a level equivalent to GS-04 in the Federal Service. General experience includes analyzing problems, gathering data, and communicating effectively.OR
EDUCATION:
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-07:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS-05. Specialized experience includes knowledge of business practices, accounting principles, and Federal tax laws.OR
EDUCATION:
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 1 year of graduate education in a related field.OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-09:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS-07. Specialized experience includes knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code and analyzing financial documents.OR
EDUCATION:
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: a master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field.OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.Education
