The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is a member of the boards, departments, and offices (BDO) within the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA).Job Description And DutiesAs an Assistant Chief Counsel, you will have the opportunity to:

Provide legal advice and assistance to the Department's management as the OLC's liaison to the Brownfields and Environmental Restoration Program.Oversee legal consistency and formulates legal policy pertaining to the implementation of applicable laws and regulations.Provide legal recommendations and other legal support concerning proposed hazardous waste legislation and regulations.Meet with the Deputy Director and other managers of the Brownfields and Environmental Restoration Program on a regular basis, to coordinate legal support.Desirable Qualifications We Look For:

Extensive legal experience.Litigation skills.Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations relating to environmental subject matter.Leadership abilities.Communication skills (written and verbal).Management abilities.Organizational skills.Special Requirements
