Embryologist 3 becomes proficient and performs assisted reproduction technology (ART) laboratory techniques for reproductive health procedures. Independently performs key projects and procedures within the laboratory.Embryologist 3 will learn to successfully, and independently, perform some of the following procedures in accordance with standard operating procedures and quality control processes: endocrine assays, oocyte retrieval, semen analysis, insemination, pronuclear assessment, embryo culture and perform gamete and embryo cryopreservation techniques.This role will also oversee development of specimens, assess embryo quality, select and transfer embryos.Embryologist 3 participates and supports research projects conducted by the faculty members in the division.Due to the nature of work, flexibility in schedule is a requirement.Department Description

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences (Ob, Gyn & RS) is a major academic Department in the School of Medicine, engaged in clinical, research and training activities at various campuses throughout the Bay Area, with an annual operating budget of $142 million. The Department has 133 full-time faculty, 117 other academic appointees, 13 post-doctoral fellows, 20 clinical fellows, 32 residents, 138 voluntary clinical faculty and 270 staff. Bachelor's degree in life science (Biology or closely related area)3+ years directly relevant experienceSkill in performing and/or ability to learn how to perform assisted reproduction technology (ART) laboratory techniques.Demonstrated lab skills and policy knowledge. Knowledge of relevant industry, health and safety, federal, and state regulations.Superior eye-hand coordinationAbility to perform and/or learn specimen preparation and transfer.Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail. Ability to follow strict protocols without deviation.Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.Ability to prioritize and see projects through from inception to completion.Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively.Preferred Qualifications
