This work includes:

Delivering comprehensive customer acquisition and retention business insights to the Leadership Team (SLT) and collaborating with partner teams, including product marketing, go-to-market, and finance.Offering actionable intelligence and analytics to assist the business in forming strategies for the growth of our M365 subscriber base, including the development of forecasting and predictive modeling.Creating and automating data assets to generate reports and dashboards, facilitating the democratization of business and customer insights for product engineering, marketing, and field teams.Utilizing common data models and architecture, while ensuring compliance with data governance standards.Data Scientist II - Insights, Data Engineering, and Analytics Team (IDEAs)

This Data Scientist position is a key role that serves as a subject matter expert on tracking and understanding customer acquisition and retention journey to help business optimize strategy to grow our M365 subscriber base and ways to make the best feature for Microsoft M365 ecosystem products.The scope encompasses delivering timely business performance reports, crafting compelling storytelling presentations, and developing dashboards for leadership. Additionally, it involves a deep understanding of user purchasing and renewal flows, providing data expertise to partners on best practices for tracking these journeys to ensure accurate business performance reporting.Furthermore, the role involves exploring and comprehending various data sources, both new and existing, that contribute to our data pipeline for end-to-end reporting and insight generation. This may require the discovery and exploration of new data sources, conducting research, creating proof of concepts, and collaborating with Product Management and Engineering teams to operationalize data assets, thereby democratizing business insights.

Responsibilities

Partner with various functions/domains within the M365 ecosystem, fostering a deep understanding of these areas (M365, Office client, OneDrive, Copilot, Edge, Windows, etc).Comprehend the key performance indicators (KPIs) set by product and marketing teams, offering guidance and implementing technology solutions to optimize business processes based on those KPIs.Engage with Engineering and product partners to establish data pipelines that ensure a standardized data collection process.Coordinate with product, engineering, and marketing teams to seamlessly integrate new data sources for acquisition and retention journeys into the existing data infrastructure.Collaborate with Finance partners to construct effective funnels and KPIs that measure and project business performance accurately.Provide guidance and contribute to the formulation of technology investment strategies, ensuring the overarching goal of collecting detailed data for actionable insights is realized.Partner with analytics, data science, and data engineering teams to address data structures, data availability, and model development.Work closely with data engineering to articulate requirements for data infrastructure and conduct user acceptance tests to ensure data accuracy.Other

Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related fieldOR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) or consulting experienceOR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)OR equivalent experience.

2+ years experience with at least one of the following: Web analytics, Campaign analytics, In-product analytics.1+ years experience with querying large data sets using SQL or Python.1+ year of experience with Business Insights (BI) tools such as Data Studio, PowerBI (PBI) or Tableau.Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated analytics experience.Experience with large-scale data manipulation using SQL, R, Python, or other data languages.Demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.Demonstrated analytical experience with a focus on subscription products is advantageous.Experienced in acquisition/retention and customer journey analytics.Demonstrated problem-solving, technical, and data analysis skills.

Data Science IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
