is recruiting for a Program Specialist to support senior leadership of the Tuberculosis Control Branch. Tuberculosis, which is the leading infectious disease killer globally, is a serious public health concern as well as having one of the most startling health inequities in California today.As a Program Specialist, the incumbent applies professional skills to support a wide variety of highly visible activities in the Tuberculosis Control Branch, California Department of Public Health. The position provides support to the Branch Chief and Program Manager including preparing research and analysis for presentations and grant documents, synthesizing data for reports, and drafting highly visible and/or sensitive communications and correspondence. The position requires a great deal of independent action, tact, and diplomacy to navigate and communicate within complex and highly sensitive areas internally and outside of the Branch. The Program Specialist will work with senior leadership to draft policy documents, triage a variety of issues, provide leadership to other branch project specialists, assist staff in gathering data and information, work with the program manager to operationalize internal policy changes, and respond to a variety of governmental requests in a busy environment with competing deadlines; also performs routine office work.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.Department Description

Institute for Global Health Sciences works with the California Department of Public Health on several projects to help improve the health of Californians. One of these projects includes the Tuberculosis Control Branch (TBCB), and is located at the CDPH campus in Richmond, CA. CDPH is dedicated to optimizing the health and well-being of the people in California. To protect and improve the health of all, TBCB provides leadership and resources to prevent and control tuberculosis (TB). This mission is carried out in collaboration with local health jurisdictions and stakeholders in the public and private sectors.Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Minimum 1+ year of directly relevant experience.Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Visio.Proficient communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Proficient ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.Demonstrated ability in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals/analyses with strong attention to details.Proficient ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.Preferred Qualifications

Strong policy analysis techniques.Interest in Public Health.Ability to take, edit and disseminate high-quality notes in meetings with technical/medical content.Experience in a public health or government agency or clinical setting.Knowledge of tuberculosis disease, control, and prevention.About UCSF
