Our employees are well trained, well respected and work hard, usually behind the scenes, to fulfill our unique mission.We are seeking an attorney to serve as Counsel in the Senate Sergeant at Arms Office of General Counsel (OGC). The Counsel serves on OGC’s team as a Counselor on legal matters, as assigned by the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel. This position requires a strong legal background based on education and experience, solid legal research and writing, and top-notch oral communication and briefing skills.Flexible Working Work-Life Balance, Hybrid Schedules

Provides timely, accurate, and useful advice on legal matters, including legal issues related to human resources, ethics, contracting, and other areas of administrative law; supports litigation, agreement, and record responsibilities of SAA OGC; answers legal questions diligently and thoroughly; demonstrates collegiality and professionalism when providing legal guidance in the Senate environment.Serves as Counselor in the Sergeant at Arms (SAA) on legal matters, as assigned by the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel. Provides timely, accurate, and useful advice on legal matters, as assigned by the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel. Researches and drafts legal memoranda, policies, regulations, and procedures, as assigned by the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel. Assists with legal issues related to human resources, ethics, contracting, and other areas of administrative law. Assists OGC with supporting litigation, agreement, and record responsibilities. Answers legal questions diligently and thoroughly. Other duties as assigned.JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Required Education

Law degree from accredited law school.Core Competencies

Advising on matters of law, regulation, policy, and procedure.Drafting attorney work product, including legal memoranda.Communicating legal guidance that is timely and accurate.Working collegially and professionally with co-workers.Other Duties/Responsibilities

Other duties as assigned consistent with legal role.Required Work Experience

5+ years of relevant legal experience, such as federal government, law firms, or corporations.Required Special Skills/ Knowledge
