Our work is pivotal in: (i) enhancing multilateral, bilateral, and financial sector surveillance, as well as the utilization of Fund Resources; (ii) developing, refining, and promoting internationally recognized statistical standards and methodologies; and (iii) spearheading capacity-building initiatives in macroeconomic statistics.The Data Operations Division (DO) in STA is currently seeking a Data Analyst. This division oversees STA's statistical data and metadata production and distribution, maintaining the highest standards of data and metadata quality for internal and external circulation. Moreover, DO manages statistical data management tools and the corresponding IT budgets and acts as the voice for STA's IT interests.The Data Analyst plays a crucial role in the collection and processing of the Fund's economic data across a wide range of topics. Key responsibilities include:Gathering, processing, combining, and validating economic data and associated metadata to ensure their validity and completeness.Assisting in the distribution and communication of economic data and metadata.Leveraging new technologies and methods to boost the promptness, scope, and precision of the economic data STA collects and disseminates.SupervisionThe Data Analyst will report to the Division Chief and two Deputy Division Chiefs in the Data Operations Division of STA.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesValidate incoming data for completeness and accuracy. Immediately notify supervisors of any dataset inconsistencies.Utilize technology and automation for efficient data processing - from ingestion to dissemination.Adopt innovative data processing techniques to boost dataset accuracy and promptness.Help maintain the metadata related to the department's collected datasets.Uphold and enforce data management policies and procedures aligned with Fund data guidelines.Communicate data and metadata availability to users and simplify data access. Handle both internal and external data requests and manage data exchanges with partner organizations.Carry out any other tasks or responsibilities as directed.QualificationsBachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in programming/systems, computer science, statistics, finance, mathematics, economics, or a related field of study, is required. No minimum experience is required, and recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.It's advantageous if the candidate possesses a basic understanding of financial and macroeconomic concepts, coupled with a foundational grasp of data management principles.Moreover, the ideal candidate would demonstrate excellent analytical abilities, comfort in managing large datasets within a production environment, and a good understanding of the technologies or methods used for data ingestion, processing, and validation. As a Data Analyst, it's imperative to have outstanding communication skills and a keen attention to detail. The role demands the ability to prioritize effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet set deadlines, and maintain flexibility and composure under pressure.Only candidates who are currently residing in the Washington DC metro area will be considered.Department:
