Office of Advanced PracticeFull Time77606BRJob SummaryThe APP Manager will provide leadership for the health system and advanced health providers in the development and implementation of ongoing quality improvement through an array of regulatory compliance, policies and programs, funding/funds flow/productivity, training and technical assistance, data and information sharing, and partnerships and collaborations.
The manager will also provide direct management to APPs within the general surgery department and collaborate with the faculty physicians. The primary managerial responsibility is to provide professional support to the APPs and Lead APPs so there is alignment with the departments and UCSF Health. The primary clinical responsibility is to provide clinical services to inpatient adult patients.
The APP manager will be a practicing clinician and administrator. The incumbent will be 10% clinical 90% administrative with the flexibility to limit their clinical practice based on administrative demands. The central responsibility of this role is to serve as a single point of contact, liaison, and expertise for matters specific to practice oriented APPs resourcing the APP workforce.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.To see the salary range for this position (we recommend that you make a note of the job code and use that to look up): TCS Non-Academic Titles Search.Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.To learn more about the benefits of working at UCSF, including total compensation, please visit.Required QualificationsMinimum three (3) years of progressive responsibility related healthcare leadership.Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise a team and to manage the complex workflow and competing priorities involved with providing quality care as an Advanced Practitioner.In depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards, systems, external regulations and internal policies.Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and problem solving with all levels of management and staff.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to prepare and present a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.Preferred QualificationsDoctorate prepared.Advanced experience in clinical specialty supervising APPs.Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document staff issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters.Demonstrated leadership skills to effectively supervise clinicians, manage complex workflow and multiple priorities.Working knowledge of human resources management practices and policies.Demonstrated ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document APP performance.Knowledge of business software, specialized applications and data management systems used in clinics / clinical departments.Demonstrated leadership and professional growth by achieving promotion to NP 3 classification.License/CertificationCurrent California license in good standing by specialty within 90 days of hire:
RN and NP, or Physician Assistant
