Senior Data Scientist

to meet the growing demand and challenges of cybersecurity and threat protection. As a Senior Data Scientist on our team, you will partner with our engineers, other data scientists, and researchers to experiment, design, build, and deploy statistical, machine learning, and AI models to protect the Microsoft Cloud against known and emerging cyberattacks. In your day-to-day work, you will perform data analysis on big data, find useful insights, perform hypothesis testing, experiment with models, vet experiments, incorporate quality monitors, and ship successful models to productions.You will have the opportunity to collaborate with partners across Microsoft who have decades of security, research, and ML expertise and the tools and technologies to grow your expertise in this field.The group fosters a diverse and inclusive work culture that prioritizes people at all times. Develop statistical, ML, and AI based security models for cybersecurity and intrusion detection that are feasible and scalable and meet business objectives.Acquire and prepare data sets for modeling purposes and ensure data integrity and privacy.Work with security threat analysts to understand cyberattack tactics and build security models and make them accessible to our team.Produce project plans and assess the current situation for resources, risks, contingencies, requirements, assumptions, and constraints.Evaluate and communicate the results and insights of data analysis to stakeholders.Embody our culture and values.Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR equivalent experience.2+ years of programming experience in Python, Scala, R, C++, C# or similar language.Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/Additional Qualifications

Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR equivalent experience.Familiarity with Spark or Hadoop and programming skills in Python, R, or Scala.Familiarity with ML tools & frameworks such as Jupyter notebook, Scikit-Learn, Azure AI/ML/Cognitive Service, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.Familiarity with statistical analysis, modeling & inferencing, and hypothesis testing.Data Science experience in the cybersecurity domain.Data Science IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
