The selected individual will start on the one departmental Finance team and will then, at least six months later, will rotate through approximately three more finance teams spending about six months learning and contributing in each (the first rotation may be longer depending on start date). Teams may include:The Field Finance team that supports the finances of our local regionsThe Training Services Finance and Analysis teamNHQ Finance Program lead functions such as support to fundraising, domestic disaster, international services, Services to Armed Forces, or ITBiomedical (focused on blood products) operations and supply chain finance teamThe Biomedical recruitment and collections team.The Fundraising Finance team supporting our incoming donations.During the rotation, the analyst will have an employee “coach” to provide regular advice, guidance, and, if necessary, troubleshooting. The analyst will also receive advice from one or more volunteer mentors who have achieved significant success in the finance industry. Additionally, the analyst will receive formal and informal training from a variety of sources including volunteers, employees, and internal educational opportunities.To be clear, the intent of the program is for the analyst to perform the regular and ad hoc work of the team they are supporting at that time. Most of the learning in the program will come from doing the actual work of the team. Although there may be special projects, this is likely to be the minority of the work; rotators are expected to “get their hands dirty” with the regular finance day-to-day work and whatever is highest priority at that moment.After completion of the rotation program, the analyst will be placed with a team based on the needs of the finance department combined with personal preference.This is a virtual opportunity (with possible options to work a few days a week in an office if desired depending on location).Under close supervision, assist with the collection and analysis of data from organizational units. Support the preparation of financial plans and/or financial analysis. May provide business leaders with financial forecasts to support short and long-term decision making. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.Responsibilities:Assist in conducting and documenting simple to moderate financial analysis projects.May help develop, interpret, and implement financial concepts for financial planning and control.May provide monthly revenue and/or expense analyses and reports.May monitor operating budget process and allocations. May provide analysis to determine present and future performance.Assist in the development and maintenance of financial policies, procedures, and systems.Scope:Individual contributor that works under close supervision. Use technical knowledge to solve routine types of problems.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.Experience: Minimum 1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.Management Experience: N/ASkills & Abilities: Knowledge of applicable principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Basic proficiency in use of Personal Computer, word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications when applicable. Ability to work on a team.Travel: May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout the Red Cross system.Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).PAY INFORMATION:The starting annual salary range for this position is $55-60K. We do not offer an annual bonus for this role. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
