Position Overview:

The Data Analyst I, Information Management is a key role on a small team which performs a wide range of activities supporting the PBS enterprise metadata management initiative, including the implementation of data quality adoption and observability, to enable data assessment, remediation and reporting across the organization.The Data Analyst I is responsible for identifying, capturing, analyzing, and managing the company’s data, contributing to better decision-making, and planning. They provide data analysis including the conceptualization, modeling, and presentation of data. Additional responsibilities include understanding the concepts and benefits of Master Data Management.Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Requirements Analysis

Articulates the business impact of opportunities and problems to form compelling business cases.Clearly communicates the organization’s options by compelling business case for ongoing data quality efforts using industry standards.Clearly articulates recommendations and benefits in business language, use cases and measures the contribution of projects to business value.Creates and delivers documentation according to specified guidelines.Maintains accurate and up-to-date crosswalks, harmonization, business rules, data definitions and data dictionary documentation.Data Management

Works with open datasets, including populating and extracting data from internal and public open datasets.Cleans and prunes data to discard irrelevant information.Creates data visualizations and reporting to present to a variety of audiences using presentation layer tools and executives understand how DQ benefits the organization.Assists with initial data exploration steps (binning, pivoting, summarizing, and finding correlations, for example).Helps to streamline technical metadata on structured data that is defined during system design that goes from experimentation into production.Project Management

Collaborates with product or project teams, business partners and IT leaders, and may lead planning efforts related to their work.Investigates and develops ideas and positions on technology and business issues independently.Manages ambiguity and creates accurate project effort estimates.Works closely with Product Managers and Engineers to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction.Education and Outreach

Assists in designing and delivering training and training materials for metadata topics of moderate complexity to non-technical staff.Maintain data policies on a common portal and trains staff on that tool.Works closely with project teams to develop communication materials such as presentations and written and oral communications.Requirements for success:

4 or more years of relevant technical and business work experience, including:Data modeling, database administration, structured and unstructured data management.Creating and implementing metadata schemas and modelsData transformation, standard ETL processingDesigning and developing enterprise-class data flows.Proven experience documenting business operations, systems requirements and metadata processes and technologies.Experience with data management, data profiling and data quality standards, tools, and technologies (e.g. XML, XSLT, RDF, SQL, JSON etc.)Experience in the development of controlled vocabularies, thesauri, taxonomies, or formal ontologies.Experience designing reporting dashboards to translate data to an understandable illustrative format preferred.Bachelor’s degree or in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other related field; or equivalent work experience.Skills and Abilities Required:
