expands the reach of the University of Washington with programs like UW Professional & Continuing Education, International & English Language Programs, Summer Youth and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the UW that meet the needs of various learners at all phases of their lives.

The Learning Experience Project Manager (LE PM) supports online course development and other projects on the University of Washington Continuum College (UWC²) LE team. The qualified candidate has experience successfully managing projects varying in complexity and maturity. They are capable of collaboratively creating the system and processes within which they will work. This individual is comfortable with ambiguity and a product development environment.

The person in this role will work with a team focused on:

Success of the learner, not driven by shareholder prioritiesIncreasing access to learners at all stages of life and under-served communitiesEstablishing a project management team for the UWC² LE team in a startup environment

Responsibilities

Project PlanningFacilitate LE contribution to project concept and proposal developmentLead LE project early engagement/intake, planning, and commitment activities in a product development environmentConduct needs assessments and lead project consultationsGather and document clear project requirements, scope, and statement of workDevelop realistic, achievable project plans and integrated schedulesIdentify and document project risk, issue, and opportunity (RIO) management plansDevelop project operating rhythmProject ExecutionManage portfolio of LE online course development (including media production) and other projects in a product development environmentCollaboratively execute plans that include the following:Clear project requirements, scope, and statement of workWork breakdown structure (WBS) and integrated baseline project schedulesBuffer and resource managementRIO and change managementProject operating rhythmProactively identify and collaboratively solve complex problems with team members, stakeholders, instructors, and external partnersDetermine and clearly communicate project health, performance, and needs by compiling and analyzing project dataCollaborate with leadership to ensure resources are available to achieve project outcomesIdentify and address help needed by teams and remove roadblocksComplete project close-out activities and documentationProject Management Process & Tool DevelopmentAssist in the development, documentation, implementation, and optimization of project management processes and tools, including:Project early engagement/intake, planning, execution, and close-outScoping, SOW & WBS development, and integrated schedulingRIO & Change ManagementPortfolio health and performance measures, metrics, and visibilityAppropriate escalation process based on the circumstances and audienceProject management software system(s) selection and implementationProvide guidance, coaching, and training in the use of project management toolsLead and facilitate meetings, discussions, and decision makingParticipate in project teams, committees, or other Continuum-wide or UW-wide initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in project or program management role, or equivalent experience to include:Gathering and documenting clear project requirements, scope, and statement of workDeveloping realistic, achievable project plans and integrated schedulesRIO (risks, issues, opportunities) and change managementStrong relationship building and collaboration skills with diverse team members
