Major Responsibilities:Positioning and Image Critique

Ability to competently position patients for all examsPerform problem solving as it relates to physical limitations of patient during patient positioningCompetent to perform image reviews to determine if more views are necessary to complete the examAbility to select and adjust technical factors governing the imaging processAbility to identify artifacts on images and assist in problem solvingHas minimum amount of repeat workAnnual competencies

Competent operation in understanding of equipment and safety

Able to operate equipment in a competent mannerAble to modify technical factors as situation warrantsAble to perform start up and shut down procedures on all equipmentEnsures that images are labeled and marked correctlyInspect equipment on a daily basisReports any malfunctions to leader. If leader is unavailable contact proper ACE for repairs if needed.Performs problem solving as situation warrants; ie. equipment malfunctions and physical limitations of equipmentHandles all equipment with careSurgical: for c arm cases, sends key images to PACS, enters orders as appropriate, arrives, begins, and ends exam in the Epic System.Perform CT scans independently once trained.

Delivery of Patient Care

Responsible for the welfare and care of all patients directly under their control; ie. implementation of immobilization devices as necessary for their safety and comfortSecures history from patients and records on appropriate form for radiologist

PACS, EMR, and other software

Demonstrates the ability to arrive, begin and end studies in the EMR as well as able to enter outside order as appropriateDemonstrates the ability to utilize Modality Work list/or select patient in Modality, acquire and send images from the modality to PACSDemonstrates the ability to log into PACS and retrieve the appropriate studyCarries out the QC process for the images in PACS.Selects the correct buttons for prior exams and availability.Determines if pertinent priors are available in PACS.Ensures the image link is available and working in the EMR.Notifies the PACS Administrator or assistant of any issues that they are not able to resolve.General troubleshooting- ie. splitting and merging studies, changing accession numbers.Ability to use IPAD interpretation services

Participates in professional development

Attends and participates in department meetingsMaintains required amounts of CME creditsMaintains current ARRT certification/registration and state licensureParticipates in problem solving that would improve quality for the departmentMaintains CPR certificationProvides direction to new staff and staff in need of assistanceContributes to performance goals of department

Other Duties

Stocks rooms as neededAssists others as neededParticipates in patient educationParticipates in QC/QA testing-notifies supervisor when testing has exceeded the boundariesOther duties as assigned

Education/Experience Required:Graduate of AMA approved school/program of Radiologic Technology

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:Knowledge of radiology procedures and equipmentExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsPrevious outpatient service preferredBasic computer skills with proficiency in multiple programsCertified by American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or eligibleLicensed by State of WisconsinCurrent CPR or maintain within 6 months of hire

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:May be exposed to hazardous materialsMay be exposed to life threatening diseasesFlexible in a changing environmentAbility to lift and/or move patientsAbility to work under stressful conditionsAble to make independent professional decisionsTravel between work assignments if necessaryWillingness to work overtimeResponds positively to requests to work on short noticeFlexible in start and end timesMust be able to travel to any of our 6 x-ray sites and work any shift or dayAbility to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
