We invite theatre artists to apply for a tenure-track faculty position within the Teaching Professor Series. The academic appointment for this position will be for an Assistant Teaching Professor of Speech/Accents, effective July 1, 2024 and instruction beginning September 2024 (Fall Quarter).The Department of Theatre and Dance at UC San Diego invites applicants who specialize in ACCENTS, DIALECTS and TRANSFORMATIONAL SPEECH who can teach practice-based courses in speech, accents and dialects, basic acting in our undergraduate area, and serve as vocal coach on department productions. Significant experience with a variety of voice and speech pedagogies would be welcome. We are passionate about fostering an inclusive vision for Voice and Speech in theatre training.Position includes an expectation to participate in all facets of the graduate and undergraduate acting programs. Duties include teaching, developing curriculum, coaching departmental productions, casting, recruitment, university service, and a desire to invest in continuing to build and grow within the acting area.Given the department's attention to curriculum that includes production, we are interested in recruiting and supporting an applicant who has a practice in acting and/or directing, coaching speech and accents, and can mentor MFA and selected undergraduate students in that practice.QualificationsBasic qualifications
