We’re one global team – 47,000 strong – driven by a common purpose to deliver a better world.Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Planner with Rail Infrastructure focus to join our Northern California team in either Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose or Sacramento. The candidate will primarily lead environmental clearance and associated work on heavy rail and/or transit/light rail transportation projects. Work will include interaction with senior project managers and task leaders, clients, AECOM’s engineering and design teams, and representatives from cities, counties, and local, regional, state, and federal agencies. May serve as a project manager, deputy project manager, task manager, or technical specialist depending on the project assignment.Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Working across AECOM’s interdisciplinary teams to help deliver projects while integrating environmental and social considerations into project planning and design.Providing oversight, authority, and accountability for projects.Overseeing multiple projects simultaneously within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring quality standards on project deliverables.Providing leadership in mentoring personnel.Research, writing, and impact analysis for a wide range of CEQA and NEPA documents.Subconsultant and technical staff management.Financial management and progress reporting on ongoing tasks.Support business development activities, including proposal preparation.QualificationsMinimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning or related field.Minimum of 6 years of experience in successfully coordinating and managing CEQA and NEPA document preparation and technical studies for rail projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.Understanding of California’s regulatory permitting environment, including permitting through the US Army Corps of Engineers, Regional Water Quality Control Boards, US Fish and Wildlife Service, State Historic Preservation Office, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife.Valid Driver's license is required.Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning or related field.10-15+ years of experience in successfully coordinating and managing CEQA/NEPA document preparation and technical studies for rail infrastructure projects.Experience working with the Federal Railroad Administration, Surface Transportation Board, and/or Federal Transit Administration in NEPA document preparation.Experience with Federal Transit Administration Capital Investment Grants process.Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills to effectively manage projects and interact with teams of staff, subconsultants, and clients.Experience in providing strategic advice to clients on CEQA and NEPA review process, class of action, and permitting requirements.Demonstrated experience in addressing other state and federal environmental regulations, consultation requirements, and Executive Orders.Ability to write a range of CEQA and NEPA documents and supporting technical documentation.Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high level of competence and experience in working with teams, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory personnel.Exceptional detail orientation and attention to quality.Experience in marketing and business development efforts in pursuit of new projects.Prior or current projects/relationships with rail transit agencies in California.Additional InformationDue to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required. Relocation is not available for this position. The salary range for this position is $87,000.00 - $163,000.00.
