If you have a passion for biomedical research and want to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, this is the position for you!UES, Inc. has an opportunity for a Scientist to do advanced lab experiments and procedures to build, develop and characterize neuronal organ system models. Leveraging multi-cellular culture systems and a variety of microfluidic culture devices, this position will work to develop tissue models, such as Organ-on-Chip systems, that closely mimic physiological function of human brain regions, and characterize their response to various stimuli. The incumbent will work alongside subject matter experts in the fields of cell biology and biomedical engineering, and perform functional and targeted assays to describe the neurobiology of the model systems, such as RNA isolation/sequencing, ELISA, and other in vitro assays.This work is in direct support to the 711th Human Performance Wing at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH.Key Responsibilities include:

Perform cell culture experiments, RNA isolation, and in vitro assaysMaintain cell lines, culture media and reagent inventoryConduct quality control tests on cell lines and reagents to ensure experimental reproducibilityAssist with developing, optimizing, and conducting experiments protocols for organ-on-a-chip, iPSC culturing, iPSC neuronal models, microelectrode array, and calcium flux imaging experimentsAnalyze experimental data and assist in preparation of research reports and presentationsMaintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot technical issuesEnsure compliance with laboratory safety guidelines and regulationsMaintain current knowledge within technical areaCommunicate experimental results and collaborate with other team membersWrite manuscripts, technical reports, presentationsCoordinate with collaborators and customers to ensure delivery of work productsRequirements:

This position is working on government related projects and requires U.S. CitizenshipBachelor’s or master’s degree in Biological Sciences (Cell/Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry) or related field2+ years’ experience with in vitro experiments, specifically mammalian cell cultureExperience which includes a combination of the following is highly preferred:Organ-on-a-chipiPSC culturingiPSC neuronal modelsmicroelectrode arrayscalcium flux imagingDemonstrated experience working independently, collaborating, and coordinating team activitiesStrong verbal, written and communication skillsStrong attention to detail and organization skillsAbility to learn laboratory softwareAdditional Information
