The DepartmentThe political science program at Sonoma State University offers excellent opportunities for the study of government and politics. Over 40 courses cover all major aspects of the discipline. Students develop an understanding of human behavior as this relates to politics. They learn to discuss and analyze critically the many current public policy issues facing the United States and the world.

Duties of the PositionThe Political Science Department seeks a broadly trained person in the field of American politics, but will also consider candidates with specializations in other subfields of political science. We are interested in candidates who can teach undergraduate classes in the department's required core. The successful candidate will be committed to the academic success of all of our students and to an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates diversity and differences.

Professional QualificationsTo be recommended for appointment, the candidate must have: MA or JD required. Ph.D preferred.

Rank and SalaryFull-time is a 15-unit workload per semester. Actual salary is dependent upon the number of units assigned, educational preparation, and availability of funds subject to any CSU system faculty contract salary increases.Salary commensurate with degree level and experience.Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per full-time month.Temporary Faculty appointments are made on a part-time, temporary basis and contingent upon department needs and funding.
