business unit helps transform the VA into a modern digital services organization where Veteran outcomes are at the center of every effort. We partner with the VA to design and deliver seamless user experiences for Veterans, their families and caregivers, and VA employees. By applying better practices in service design, product management, and technology, we enable VA to increase the usage, quality, and reliability of services and decrease the time Veterans spend waiting for outcomes.Primary ResponsibilitiesStrong influential skills to build relationships with team members, government and company stakeholders, and program management.May lead cross-functional efforts for delivery team members and team leads.Navigates ambiguous requirements and environments to support delivery.Leads the delivery of design work such as design initiative briefs, discovery artifacts, sketches, wireframes, UX flows, low and high fidelity prototypes, heuristic evaluations, competitive analysis, and design system contributions.Comprehensive understanding of scope requirements to prioritize design activities.Responsible for working with users to support the development of effective designs.Experienced with design skill principles, with the ability to provide recommendations associated with typography and hierarchy.Delivers design work including discovery artifacts, sketches and rough prototypes, wireframes, UX flows, and high fidelity prototypes.Demonstrates the ability to coach designers; with a focus on providing actionable feedback that helps individuals grow in objective ways.Manages the development of competitive analysis, and reports results to stakeholders.Contributes to the design libraries and provides visual design and brand artifacts.Facilitates discussions with multi-disciplined teams to drive productive discussions and articulate goals in order to deliver upon requirements.Experienced with storytelling to deliver compelling artifacts and presentations that distill highly complex issues into focused, understandable solutions.Ability to identify risks and communicate to leadership; provides recommendations to mitigate identified risks.May develop and manage content for highly visible websites or applications, abiding by design guidelines.Participates in grading candidate homeworks and participating in panel interviews.Basic Qualifications5+ years of demonstrated experience working with Section 508 standards and Web content accessibility Guidelines.2+ years in an a11y focused role.Expert level 508 experience as it pertains to compliance, accessibility, testing, and tagging.Certification in accessibility, such as Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competency or Certified Professional in Web Accessibility.Expert-level understanding of accessibility requirements, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, best-practice, and tools.Experience with using and/or supporting research and testing with assistive technology, including screen readers.Experience supporting the creation of accessible and 508-compliant user interfaces and artifacts.Working knowledge of HTML, ARIA, and CSS.Understanding of (and ideally, experience executing) quality assurance testing and processes.Experience in an open, collaborative development environment.Preferred QualificationsFamiliarity with the US Web Design System.Experience working or with government agencies, especially the VA.Experience working with GitHub or other git repositories.You are a U.S. Veteran.ExpectationsWe expect the responsibilities of this position to shift and grow organically over time, in response to considerations such as the unique strengths and interests of the selected candidate and other team members and an evolving understanding of the delivery environment.Is curious, adaptive, empathetic, collaborative and holds a positive mindset.Eager to learn, experiment and innovate.Ability to take initiative in solving complex problems.Experience working with an Agile team and demonstrating an Agile mindset.Ability to work independently on high complexity tasks.Demonstrates strong communication and team collaboration skills.Dedication to the team and mission.To learn more about working at Ad Hoc, please visit:

The range of starting pay for this role is $120,000-$130,000.
